Fight Hunger with Hope

September is Hunger Action Month

This September, Help Put Food on the Table for Local Families

September is Hunger Action Month, a nationwide movement dedicated to raising awareness about hunger and inspiring communities to take action.

At Giving Children Hope, we believe every child deserves access to nutritious food—and every family deserves the dignity of knowing where their next meal will come from.

When school cafeterias close for the weekend, many children face uncertainty about their next meal. Through our We've Got Your Back weekend nutrition program and food distribution efforts, we help provide nutritious food to children and families across Southern California.

This Hunger Action Month, you can help.

Choose Your Way to Take Action

Bring your workplace, school, church, business, neighborhood, or community group together to collect food for local children and families.

You can collect a variety of nonperishable items or focus your drive on one of our most-needed foods. We'll provide resources and guidance to help make your food drive easy and impactful.

Food drives can collect:

  • Cereal

  • Canned vegetables

  • Canned fruit

  • Soup

  • Pasta

  • Pasta sauce

  • Rice

  • Mac & cheese

  • Tuna

  • Granola bars

Donation guidelines: Please collect new, unopened, nonperishable food items with at least six months remaining before expiration.

1.Host a Food Drive

2.Start a Virtual Drive

Make an impact from anywhere with a Virtual Food Drive.

Instead of collecting physical food, create your own online fundraiser and invite friends, family, coworkers, or your community to participate. Funds raised help Giving Children Hope purchase the food items families need most—efficiently and in bulk.
