Mourning Rosa Porto, Founder of Porto’s

On Friday, December 13th, Rosa Porto, the baker and Cuban émigré who founded the popular Porto’s Bakery & Cafe chain in Southern California with her family, passed away. She was 89. Giving Children Hope is proud to partner with Porto’s Bakery & Cafe and our hearts go out to Porto’s family and all of Rosa’s fans during this time.
According to  Christine Sanchez, Director of Program and Partner Development had this to say about Rosa Porto’s passing.
“Rosa Porto was an immigrant who came to this country with a dream and an impeccable work ethic. Not only has she created the most sought after cakes and food in Southern California, her legacy reaches to bless the communities where her bakeries reside. We are honored to share her bread and pastries with children both across the street and around the world. “
