March’s Volunteer of the Month

Faithful. Reliable. Detailed. These are three characteristics that Jim Martin’s closest friends attribute to him. And we couldn’t agree more. Jim initially joined Giving Children Hope, after 28 years of working in Boeing’s Supplier Management Department, because of our mission to serve the underprivileged. He started off packing backpacks for our We’ve Got Your Back program and was later asked to work gifts-in-kind donor acquisition and cultivation. Since then, Jim has been using his 30 years of experience to connect us to new donors as well as cultivate existing ones. Whether it is an individual who donates a canned good from his pantry or a hospital that donates a pallet of medical supplies, Jim is the one who makes sure that each first-time donor is thanked and each gift is acknowledged.

When asked what his favorite part about volunteering at Giving Children Hope is, he answered with “The people. Everybody working here has such a positive attitude. Not always so in the business world.” And for anyone who is thinking of volunteering here, he says to “try it. You’ll like it.” Together, we can make a difference. We are so grateful to have such a dedicated volunteer like Jim on our team.

**Jim’s Fun Fact: Believe it or not, Jim was a pretty fast halfback in PeeWee football, so if he could choose to be any superhero, he would be The Flash!
