On Sunday, September 27, the banquet hall at Los Coyotes Country Club in Buena Park filled with Giving Children Hope’s biggest supporters. We gathered to celebrate Giving Children Hope’s 22nd year serving thousands of vulnerable children across the street and around the world.
The evening started off with a silent auction cocktail hour which included trips, signed pictures, and other luxurious gems that attendees could bid on. During dinner, Executive Director Sean Lawrence shared about Giving Children Hope’s recent accomplishments. Sean shared about his trip to Nepal last month to deliver sleeping bags, mosquito nets, and solar panels to a rural village that hadn’t received aid since the April earthquake. An update was given on our Syrian refugee relief work, which now totals 22 shipments of food and other needed items given to desperate families arriving in Lebanon with harrowing survival stories. This year’s Founder’s Award was given to our long-time partner, Gary Stanhiser, who has given his life to serving those both locally and internationally. He is a treasured friend of the organization, delivering oranges weekly for the WGYB program as well as overseeing Giving Children Hope’s projects in the Philippines.
It was an honor to have guests including: Assemblywoman Young Kim, Buena Park City Councilwoman Virginia Vaughn and Beth Swift, as well as Fullerton Councilwoman Jennifer Fitzgerald in attendance.
