The 5th Annual Beach Party, hosted by Words of Comfort, Hope and Promise, an organization that provides military outreach support to United States men and women in service and their families was held at Camp Pendleton. It was a hot and sunny day – perfect beach weather, in honor of the marines and sailors of the 3rd Assault Amphibian Battalion.
Booths, food stations and vendor tents displayed red, white and blue decor. Huge military cargo trucks and tanks rolled onto the beach and were parked on the sand for everyone to see. The smell of barbeque, the sound of music and laughter filled the air.
Members of the battalion received the royal treatment by friends and families, who cheered them on as they walked down a red carpet. The troops participated in games such as beach volleyball, tug-of-war and watermelon eating contest with their families and friends. We were delighted to be a part of this fun-filled, inspiring day!
Through our Military Support program, Giving Children Hope provides aid to the families of active duty military workers. This is our second consecutive year participating in this event. This year, we delivered household goods such as coffee makers, ovens, vacuums, pillows and sheets, and basic needs such as bath sponges, soaps and diapers.
