Disaster relief work is a tapestry of many people and partners collaborating to provide the greatest help in the quickest amount of time. One of Giving Children Hope’s valued partners, American Textile Recycling Services (ATRS), came up with a brilliant idea. One week after the April 25th Nepal earthquake, Fonta Stravropoulos, ATRS Market Team Manager, got a call from Loyola Marymount University asking if ATRS could accept a large donation of blankets. A light bulb went off in Fonta’s head as he realized he had a better use for the blankets.
Fonta contacted Giving Children Hope to ask if they could donate blankets for Nepal disaster relief. We gladly accepted. The blankets arrived nicely folded and prepared by ATRS to be shipped off to those recovering from tragedy in Nepal. Executive Director Sean Lawrence said, “These blankets will be an incredible blessing to those we are serving in Nepal. They will provide warmth for years to come to those who have lost their housing.” We are so grateful to be able to grant this request for warm blankets in Nepal. Thank you to Loyola Marymount University and ATRS for donating to those in need. Your generosity is helping Nepali lives and warming their hearts.
ATRS manages a year-round Clothing & Shoe Recycling program in partnership with GCHope that supports “We’ve Got Your Back.”
