We are excited to share that we sent our first international relief supply shipment of 2018 this week! Last year alone, we shipped relief supplies to over 20 countries, thanks to our amazing partners in the field and our wonderful donors who supply the product. As we enter our 25th year of service, we are excited to see what other communities and countries we will be able to serve and reach.
This week’s shipment was to a community of people that we have served for the past 6 years and will continue to serve as the need for relief supplies is still very much present – Syrian refugees. As of this week, we have shipped 27 shipments to Syrian refugees. For 23 of the 27 shipments to Syrian refugees, our partner in the field has been Witness as Ministry, a non-profit dedicated to alleviating the suffering of those affected by wars or religious persecution. Jean Bouchebel, co-founder and President of Witness as Ministry, recently shared with us how the Syrian refugee crisis is still very prevalent today. He explained that in these winter months, children in refugee camps are running barefoot in the snow and are dying from the cold because they do not have adequate clothing or shoes to keep them warm.

Our Executive Director, Sean Lawrence, and Global Operations Coordinator, Mikaela Buchanan, have both visited Lebanon and witnessed life in these refugee camps first hand. They have seen the desperate need for relief supplies. The need for supplies is great, but so is their need for hope – the hope that someone is praying for them and that someone is on their side to get them what they need. All the individuals who live in these refugee camps dream of returning home one day, but right now, we do what we can to help. We continue to provide life-sustaining relief supplies, such as blankets, clothing, bedding, and diapers, to make their current situation just a little bit better.
As we celebrate 25 years of serving across the street and around the world, our resolve to love our neighbors as ourselves is strengthened. We seek to provide more hope by providing food, medical supplies, and basic needs to our neighbors across the street and around the world!
