Giving Children Hope, Orange County’s go-to disaster relief agency, is responding to the earthquake that struck Nepal on April 25. GCHope will be sending supplies to a team from Real Medicine Foundation at Kathmandu Teaching Hospital. The team is also working on reaching outlying villages that have not received help yet. Supplies include food, hygiene products, and sleeping cots staged and ready to be sent in the coming days.
CBC news reported that 4,050 rescue workers from 34 countries have been flown in to help in the relief effort. More than 7,000 lives have been claimed and the U.N. reports that 8.1 million people have been affected. People are sleeping in makeshift tents to avoid buildings that might collapse on them.
Giving Children Hope is accepting monetary donations and hygiene supplies (shampoo, soap, conditioner, toothbrush, toothpaste) to send to Nepal. Thank you to everyone that has already donated or given relief items to send to Nepal. We are so grateful for your loving hearts.
